PlayStation Plus is back at it again with another exciting selection of games added to the service this October. However, one in particular is being hailed as a “hidden gem” by some players.
The Callisto Protocol, Farming Simulator 22 and Weird West were the titles added to the PlayStation Plus subscription service this month and Weird West in particular is capturing players' attention. The action RPG by WolfEye Studios is a “dark fantasy reimagining of the Wild West where lawmen and gunslingers share the frontier with fantastical creatures.” Players will be able to travel through the barren lands with a group of atypical heroes but every choice they make will have consequences and no two journeys are the same.

Despite originally releasing in 2022, Weird West has been somewhat of an underhyped game but thanks to its inclusion in the PS Plus library, players are experiencing it for the first time. “Just started Weird West and after making my way a bit into the story. It's amazing. The depth and creativity it has in its story is amazing”, said one Reddit user. “Each conversation and action can lead to a different route making the game replayable. If you like games where your choices and actions matter, this is definitely one to check out.” As mentioned, Weird West gives players complete freedom both with its story and gameplay. So much so, that the same user was able to stack three barrels to get over an otherwise locked door.

Another user claimed they “tried Callisto, got bored, now I can’t stop playing Weird West,” and another agreed saying, “Weird West is amazing. Played it a couple years ago on PC, and I'll gladly replay it on PS.” With the game having the same creative director as Dishonored, it’s no surprise people are finding weird and interesting ways to tackle their playthroughs.
It seems as though PlayStation’s latest free games are the perfect addition to its subscription service and November’s titles are already following suit with one game already being a hit.
