Animal Crossing: New Horizons makes small return with Nintendo Switch free gift

If you want to claim some freebies for Animal Crossing: New Horizons on Nintendo Switch, then you’re in the right place.

Released in 2020, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a game that is very beloved by the Nintendo community and was credited by many for helping them get through the COVID-19 era of isolation.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a social game in which players create their dream tropical island that can be shared with other players across the world.

“A carefree new life is just beyond the horizon! Step off the plane and onto your very own deserted island where new friends, discoveries and opportunities are waiting for you,” reads the synopsis of the game.

There’s no telling when a new game in the series will arrive, but considering that it’s been popular ever since making its debut on the Nintendo GameCube in 2001, it would be safe to assume that it will one day be released on the Switch 2.

Until then, at least to help get a snippet of an Animal Crossing fix, as brought to our attention by the Twitter account NSO Icons Alert, you can claim free profile icons to proudly display on your Nintendo Switch consoles.

The items will cost 10 Platinum coins (Nintendo’s free currency) for a profile icon or five coins for a profile border. They will be available throughout July until the next batch of goodies arrives on rotation.

To earn Platinum coins, simply head on over to the My Nintendo hub to find an array of easy campaigns.

You can access the free icons via the Nintendo Switch home screen by going to ‘Nintendo Switch Online’ and then selecting the ‘Missions & Rewards’ section.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
