Skyrim fans can now download a new overhaul for the game which introduces the best feature from the Fable series.
Although they're both fantasy RPGs from the early Xbox era, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fable are two very different kinds of games.
While Skyrim emphasises an open world where you can go anywhere and do anything, Fable plays up more of its life simulation elements. Both are great, but they're very different experiences.
If you did want to add more life sim aspects to Skyrim though, this new mod uploaded to Nexus Mods brings over Fable's real estate feature into the game as a fully functional in-game activity.

Estates of Skyrim is a brand new mod that adds new life sim elements to the 2011 game
Estates of Skyrim by SethSaidThat transforms every home you own into their own living estate, complete with residents, upgrades, and economy that is all managed from one screen.
In vanilla Skyrim, you typically obtain one of the various player homes located across the world and they just sit there, holding your loot. Estates of Skyrim changes this so these homes matter, where every place you own becomes a working estate with its own treasury, supplies, upgrade paths, and most importantly, people to populate them.
Hiring a household to run your estate brings important responsibilities. You have to keep them fed and warm throughout the winter, all while pouring your hard-earned gold into various upgrades which helps the estate to be run much more efficiently.
All 9 player homes in the vanilla game will function as estates right out of the box, with additional estate mods by SethSaidThat also compatible with the mod.

There are up to 56 upgrades per estate, ranging from 1,500 to 40,000 gold each. 32 of these upgrades are real objects that you place yourself, whether that's storehouses, smoking racks, apiaries, vegetable plots, or supply carts.
Each hire you make possesses 13 skills, ranging from Novice to Master, and up to 3 of 16 traits which affect morale and loyalty.
Every day, they get better at their job, allowing the estate to be run much more efficiently, and will help to ensure their survival. They run on a 24-hour clock similar to NPCs in the base version of Skyrim, meaning all characters in your household will sleep and eat in addition to work.
Speaking of which, you must look after your household if they are to survive the winter. Everyone eats two meals a day, with 122 different foods being worth their own number of meals. The hearths also burn more firewood in winter.
The best part about the mod is it all works from one screen, meaning you don't need to physically tend to your household every time you want to check on it or make some improvements. You can simply open the screen, and keep yourself updated on everything that's going on with your households.
If you'd like to check out Estates of Skyrim, you can download it now from the Skyrim Nexus Mods page.
