Skyrim players can now download a big overhaul for another one of the game’s most divisive quests.
One of the biggest reasons that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has managed to stand the test of time is due to the huge amount of mods and support the game has got from the community over the years.
From small quality of life improvements, to brand new quests and massive total conversions, the game has got it all.
We’ve reported several times on Skyrim modder Flowrifto’s mission to overhaul the Thieves Guild questline, and they’re back with yet another overhaul for the Scoundrel’s Folly quest.

If you’re a Skyrim fan, you may be a little divided on Scoundrel’s Folly as a quest. It’s the fifth mission you do for the Thieves Guild, but it’s a little rigid and difficult to complete without breaking stealth.
Flowrifto’s mod, titled Scoundrel’s Folly Plus Plus, simply overhauls this to give you a few more options and routes through to the end of the level. It’s described as a “completely unsequenced quest to let you finish it however you see fit”.
How it does this is in several ways. For starters, the overhaul makes Gulum-Ei an unessential NPC from the start of the game, so if he dies before you start the quest Mercer Frey will instead ask you to look for clues in the East Empire Company Warehouse.

You can even tell Mercer Frey that Gulum-Ei is dead and that you can’t find any clues without him, which may result in your expulsion from the guild due to your inaptitude.
There are a few other tweaks made to the level to make it a bit more seamless in how you want to go about finishing it.
Gulum-Ei now carries a note that can be pickpocketed from him (or his corpse), which points you to Brinewater Grotto, completely skipping the warehouse section of the quest.
There’s also a new hidden button which allows you to reach the end of the warehouse secret passage through Brinewater Grotto, just to reverse things around a bit.
In fact, there’s also an option to grab Gulum-Ei’s confession as soon as you’re given the assignment, completely bypassing the meeting with Gulum-Ei and moving the quest forward quite dramatically.
Flowrifto also mentions that if you have SKSE and PO3 Papyrus Extender installed, this mod will also detect if you have A Chance Arrangement Plus Plus. That will make Brynjolf unessential during this quest, and the game will respond to his demise accordingly.
If you’d like to download Scoundrel’s Folly Plus Plus, you can do so now by downloading it from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim page on Nexus Mods.
In addition to this and A Chance Arrangement, Flowrifto has also worked on overhauls for Thieves Guild quests like Taking Care of Business and Speaking With Silence.
It seems that they are keen to make changes to the whole questline to make it more responsive to your actions and with more openness in regards to structure.
