A new free quest mod for Skyrim completely changes the beginning of the Thieves Guild questline, and it’s worth downloading for any thief-oriented players.

A Chance Arrangement Plus Plus is a quest overhaul for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim created by Flowrifto, the same modder who worked on Speaking With Silence Plus.

It seems that Flowrifto is aiming to completely revamp the Thieves Guild storyline, as evidence by their latest mod which makes some significant changes to the first quest in the narrative.

As any players who’ve played thief or sneaky characters in Skyrim will know, the first quest of the Thieves Guild storyline—titled A Chance Arrangement—begins when you first enter Riften and speak to Brynjolf.

The quest is flawed in some ways because you don’t really have any proper ways to refuse Brynjolf’s offer of a job to join the guild, presumably Bethesda safeguarding you from locking yourself out of a major side questline.

This Quest Overhaul Mod Changes How The First Thieves Guild Story Plays Out

With the A Chance Arrangement Plus mod, you’re now given a chance to refuse Brynjolf’s offer, and it opens up a few new interesting roleplaying opportunities to go from there.

From here you have several options of how you want to advance the quest. If you want to oppose Brynjolf, you can frame him for the ring theft and send him to Riften’s jail. You can also kill him and face the consequences when you enter the Flagon.

On the other hand, you can reverse-pickpocket Brynjolf and show him, which impresses him enough to allow you to skip the first job in the guild questline.

The mod also randomises the owner of the ring, so it doesn’t always belong to Madesi. Therefore, Madesi and Brand-Shei are also no longer essential NPCs, and can be killed at any point during the game.

As the mod description states, there is also a minor bug fix included with the installation. Assaulting Brynjolf in the market is now considered a crime, so you’ll have to be more strategic about where and how you kill him, should you decide to.

In the end, the mod basically adds more freedom and options for you to take in the opening Thieves Guild mission, which is great for those who enjoy the roleplaying aspect of Skyrim.

You can download A Chance Arrangement Plus Plus now from Nexus Mods.
