Fable is one of the most beloved fantasy RPG properties ever on Xbox, and with its next big release just around the corner, there are different versions of the game that you can pick up.
The first Fable was released on the original Xbox in 2004, and for its time, alongside the likes of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, it was somewhat ahead of the curve when it came to storytelling and how player choice could shape their tale.
However, it’s been a long time since we’ve been treated to a new game in the series, the last mainline release being Fable III in 2010 on Xbox 360, when not taking into account spin-offs and the 2014 remaster.
So, to say that the rebooted Fable, developed by Playground Games, coming to PC and Xbox Series X/S has been a long wait is somewhat of an understatement. But as long as the game suffers no further delay, we can finally expect Fable to arrive in early 2027.

When Fable does grace us with its presence, there will be three main versions of the game that you can pick up, and we’ll let you know what’s in each and how much it will cost.

No matter which version of Fable you pre-order, you’ll receive some cosmetic DLC. The ‘Pre-Order Content Pack’ includes: The ‘Questionably Heroic Chicken Suit’, and some “Charming In-Game Gifts.
If you just want the base game and no extras, other than the obligatory pre-order DLC, then the Fable standard edition is for you. This version of the game has an RRP of £59.99/$69.99.

This version of the game comes with some bonus DLC, including the post-launch story expansion, ‘Order of the Hero’.
“Fable: Order of the Hero features a brand-new region that brims with danger, wonder, and whispers of long-buried power. As you explore, your deeds earn the cultist’s admiration, and you rise to become their latest (and greatest) celebrity overseer,” reads the synopsis.
“With your newfound authority, you’ll guide their rituals and shape the cult into your own heroic vision, whether noble, nasty or just plain weird. But becoming the new boss does beg a darker question. If the cult suddenly has a vacancy for a new Heroic leader…what happened to the last one?”
It also comes with the ‘Premium Edition Content Pack, which includes the ‘Splendid Armour’ and the ‘Bastard Armour’ sets. Three in-game gifts: ‘Queen’s Bouquets’, ‘Bag of Offal’ and the ‘Decadent Gold Leaf Bread’.
Finally, this edition also includes the ‘Digital Artbook and Soundtrack, as well as five days of early access. There will also be a Premium Edition upgrade path on the Xbox Marketplace. Fable Premium Edition has an RRP of £89.99/$99.99.

If you’re after something extra luxurious to celebrate your time in Albion, then look no further than the Fable Collector’s Edition. It’s worth mentioning that at the time of writing, it is sold out on the Xbox Game Studios Store. However, you can provide your email to be notified if it comes back in stock, so fingers crossed.
The Fable Collector’s Edition includes:
You do have the option to import this edition with a lower RRP due to currency conversion. However, you do risk being stung by excessive delivery and customs charges. So it’s probably best to pre-order it from your region, if you can. Fable Collector’s Edition has an RRP of £189.99/$199.99.
Assuming it doesn't get delayed again, Fable will be released worldwide on 23 February 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
