Fable has surfaced during today's Xbox Showcase with a launch date now officially locked in.
It was previously revealed that Fable will be launching in early 2027 instead of its original planned window of 2026. Well, Playground Games has now confirmed that it'll be ours to enjoy on 23 February 2027.
Earlier in the showcase, Xbox head honcho Asha Sharma revealed that the upcoming Gears of War: E-Day would be an Xbox exclusive, shifting away from Phil Spencer's controversial cross-platform approach to releases.
It'll come as a relief to many that Fable isn't venturing down the same path. It's still confirmed to be coming to PlayStation 5 as well as Xbox Series X/S and PC.

The brand new trailer looked totally epic and was seemingly led by a star of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
It looks as if Hayley Atwell of Peggy Carter fame will be starring in Fable in a villainous role. The character was introduced as Isabel, Hero of Wraithmarsh although her overall demeanour felt a little bit more nefarious than 'hero' suggests.
Either way, Fable has definitely added yet another famous face to its cast which already includes Richard Ayoade.
“Isabel is a driven, powerful Hero on a quest to make right a tragic injustice," said the game's narrative director Craig Owens on the Xbox Wire blog.
"Driven by grief, Isabel has turned her pain into determination and focus that sets her at odds with The Hero of Briar Hill and Humphry, her one-time guardian. Isabel’s conviction that she’s not just doing the right thing, but she’ll be able to make right any harm she causes along the way makes her a powerful, dangerous enemy.”
Owens continued, "Hayley’s ability to combine vulnerability with strength made her the perfect person to play Isabel, and working with her was a real pleasure.
"Her desire to really dig into the character and deliver the best possible performance in every scene blew us all away, not just on the performance capture stage but in the voice recording booth, where her classical training was on full display. Hayley brought a dedication, seriousness and grit to the role that, in many ways, mirrors the character’s own.”
Atwell is joined by Lily Nichol and Ukweli Roach as the female and male versions of the playable character, the Hero of Briar Hill.
Nichol is making her game debut after starring in TV shows I Hate Suzie, Lockwood & Co, and Renegade Nell. Roach previously starred in Horizon Forbidden West and Assassin's Creed Valhalla.
They join Matt King as Humphry, Susan Wokoma as Arden the Cobbler, Natasia Demetriou as Jenny, Nathan Foad as Jacob, Kwame Augustine as Connor, Nina Wadia as Grandma, and Robert Whitelock as Nigel the Sheriff
