Fable Reboot PS5 Version Teased For This Year

Could it be day and date?

The Fable reboot has been teased for PS5, and it could be coming as soon as this year.

In case you missed it, Xbox is holding a Developer Direct later this month on 22 January, showing off upcoming titles like Forza Horizon 6, Fable, and Beast of Reincarnation.

It’ll be our first look at Fable since 2024, and with the game supposedly launching this year, we’ll hopefully get a nosey at some gameplay this time.

As it stands, Xbox and PC versions of the game are the only confirmed platforms by Microsoft at the moment. However, new reports suggest that a PlayStation 5 version is also in development.

As reported by Video Games Chronicle’s Andy Robinson on the VGC Podcast, Robinson suggests that Fable has been “targeting” a PS5 version for quite some time.

Robinson also states that while specific details may change, he “expects” it to come to the platform on Day 1, making it a day and date release alongside the Xbox and PC versions.

Fable's PlayStation Debut Lines Up With Xbox's Multiplatform Strategy

This would line up with Xbox’s modern strategy of bringing its modern library of first-party titles to platforms outside of Xbox and PC.

Since 2024, we’ve seen first-party games like Gears of War: Reloaded, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and Forza Horizon 5 all make it to PlayStation 5 consoles, and that doesn’t show any signs of slowing down with upcoming games like Forza Horizon 6 and Halo: Campaign Evolved also confirmed for PlayStation.

So it seems to be a matter of when, not if, the Fable reboot will be coming to PlayStation consoles.

Robinson also states that Forza Horizon 6, which was previously delayed on PlayStation 5, was delayed because it simply “wasn’t ready”. Assuming Fable’s PS5 version is ready, that could put it in a position of releasing day and date with the Xbox and PC versions.

Announced in 2020, the upcoming Fable release will be the first mainline release in the series since 2010’s Fable III. Developed by Forza Horizon studio Playground Games, Fable was originally supposed to release in 2025 before being pushed back to 2026.

I’d imagine we’ll see it sometime in the summer. Considering it was originally going to be a 2025 release, it probably won’t have been pushed back all the way to the end of the year.

There’s also the matter of Xbox not wanting it to clash with the release of GTA VI, which is expected on 19 November, 2026.
