If you’re morally or financially opposed to paying for PlayStation Plus, but still wish you could hop online with your mates on your PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5, then I have some good news for you (for a limited time only).
Thank you in advance to PlayStation Lifestyle’s Michael Ruiz for the original source!
As of right now, you can currently play Grand Theft Auto V’s online mode, Grand Theft Auto Online, for free– even if you don’t own an active PlayStation Plus subscription.

To clarify, this doesn’t mean that either Grand Theft Auto V or Grand Theft Auto Online are free. It just means that if you do own the games, you don’t need a subscription to play the games online.
This was seemingly discovered by folks over on the r/GTAV subreddit, but the comments do seem a little mixed as to why this is currently possible.
“Literally happened to me too. No other account or user on my console has PS Plus”, commented user Goofy_Tk.
“It’s been like this for a month or so, not gonna ask anymore questions about it I’m just gonna play GTA online I guess.”

“Every time a new online DLC comes out, you can play it for a few days without PS Plus on Playstation”, replied user Madiero.
Although there hasn’t been a direct announcement from Rockstar Games regarding the free access, it does indeed seem to be tied to the new Money Fronts update for GTA Online.
The only real question is how long it will actually last. As several users have stated, these free periods seem to last two weeks after the new update drops, which should mean that you have roughly eight days left to take advantage of it.
Either way, I’d suggest hopping on ASAP and taking advantage of it before it runs out (whenever exactly that may be).
