The PlayStation Plus service features a bevy of great games, whether that’s within the game catalogue via the Extra tier, or the freebies given out every month on all levels of the subscription.

Recently, the Grand Theft Auto 3 Remastered dropped onto PlayStation Plus, and since then, fans have been revisiting the third game in the series, and recommending it to everyone who will listen.

The third game in the GTA series was the big shift from 2D to 3D, and over the years it has been one that is harder to play on modern systems, mostly due to the aged visuals and mechanics.

When the remaster was released, it initially left fans disappointed as it didn’t feel like a good enough improvement, but since then, Rockstar Games has worked with Grove Street Games to deliver a great experience.

“GTA 3 plays and looks amazing now!” expressed one eager fan over on Reddit.

In reply, another user commented, “Once I realised it had a Fidelity/Performance mode, and I changed it to Performance, it was even better. Smooth like butter, and I don't think it impacted on visuals either.”

While GTA 3 can feel lacking in characterisation, as the protagonist is one of the worst, fans still hold the game in their hearts for being a simple, action-packed experience.

Since hitting PlayStation Plus, fans have flocked back to try the game again.

“Now it looks like my nostalgia looked,” said OMGlenn.

Others agree, and it’s bringing back memories, with MajorGroover saying, “Finished it recently and really enjoyed it. Good nostalgia!”

Then, there’s another fan who comments, “I started yesterday, it does play excellently - looking forward to the platinum!”

Another major hit for the retro fans out there, or those who simply want to experience the crime sprees of early GTA.
