The PlayStation 5 is a behemoth. A wide lad. A hefty boy. Don't get me wrong, I love the fat son of a bitch, but it's a giant eyesore in the corner of my living room. A looming monolith that my wife wishes she could destroy with a sledgehammer.

It's for this reason that I'd very much love to see the long-rumoured PlayStation 5 Slim model sooner rather than later. The heavily rumoured smaller PS5 model was accidentally confirmed by Microsoft in recent court documents, where it was claimed that Sony intends to “release a PlayStation 5 Slim later this year” at the same price as the Digital Edition console. However, as we barrel towards the end of the year this Slim model remains nowhere to be seen.

Later this year, PS5 owners will be able to experience Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. You can check out our preview below!

As reported by Wccftech, notable games industry leaky boy Tom Henderson took to Twitter recently to suggest the PlayStation 5 Slim actually isn't as slim as many of us might have been hoping.

“I don't know anything about the recent PlayStation Slim rumours and when it will be revealed,” Henderson wrote. “Logically, with a release set for September, a reveal soon makes sense. As for if it will be called the ‘Slim’ or not, I'm inclined to believe it will just be called a PS5 and branded as an improved model. It's my understanding that this new model will completely replace the current PlayStation 5 with the last units hitting shelves by the end of the year.”

He continued: “I've only seen prototypes. I don't think it will be ‘slim’ at all. Just slightly different dimensions but we'll see.”

While a mid-gen refresh is all but guaranteed - especially since we know Xbox has one planned - it's a shame the next model won't be a reasonable size. Maybe the PlayStation 6 can focus on being a little bit smaller, if only for the sake of my marriage.
