PlayStation 5 system update released, and gamers aren't happy

Love me some stability

Great news, everyone; a new PlayStation 5 update has just landed.

Oh, and yet gamers still aren’t happy.

It’s update 25.05-11.60.00.05 that’s arrived - and it should begin downloading automatically as soon as you boot up your console, that’s assuming it hasn’t done it already if you have Rest Mode on.

It’s on the smaller side, clocking in at just 1.34GB and, uh, it actually doesn’t do very much at all.

Are you ready for these official patch notes?

“We’ve improved system software performance and stability,” Sony wrote.

Yes, that’s it. Look, I do enjoy my PS5 running without issue and if this patch helps that continue then great, but it’s been too long since we received some juicy new features.

It isn’t exactly the brevity of this update that’s left players disgruntled, although that has bothered some.

It’s more to do with the PS5’s ongoing lack of popular Discord features.

“Can we just get Discord share screen already man?” asked Reddit user IrishRox, garnering plenty of upvotes.

“Man. Never knew how much I needed this until I saw this comment … What a godsend this would be,” added Nate_Radix_.

“My PS5 has never felt so stable,” remarked a sarcastic Ph0enixes.

“If you build a skyscraper out of PS4s and PS5s above a fault line, it wouldn’t even budge an inch during a quake,” joked JudgeCheezels.

Perhaps I can inject some excitement into your day by reminding you that a ton of games will join PlayStation Plus’ extra and premium tiers today.

Cyberpunk 2077 joined the extra tier last week, with that title now being joined by Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden (I recommend it), Bluey: The Videogame, Planet Zoo, Risk of Rain 2, Tropico 6, and New World: Aeternum.

Abiotic Factor will follow on 22 July.

Today also sees Twisted Metal 3 and Twisted Metal 4 land on the premium tier.

Perhaps that’ll distract you from this lacklustre update.
