Here at GAMINGbible, I’m known for being a big fan of the Horizon franchise, but it’s a series that’s always left me feeling a tad confused. I wouldn’t go as far as saying it’s underrated - it’s one of Sony’s biggest IPs - yet at the same time, there is a distinct lack of fanfare.

If you ask me, it’s one of the most consistently impressive franchises out there. With the successive releases of Horizon Forbidden West and its expansion Burning Shores, Guerrilla Games have continued to raise the bar. Burning Shores features flawless graphics, an engaging storyline, seamless traversal, fun combat, and impressively dynamic environments. If you ask me, it’s unmatched in so many areas. Luckily, there are 16 more Horizon projects in the works - and I’m crossing my fingers that, once again, the next mainline entry isn’t overshadowed by a juggernaut like Elden Ring or Breath of the Wild. In the meantime though, some fans are hailing Horizon Zero Dawn as an ‘absolute masterpiece’ of storytelling.

Take a look at the stunning Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores in action below.

Reddit user Escanos_Iacomes wrote, “I finished Horizon Zero Dawn last night. Oh my god. I cannot believe I didn't finish this game sooner. This is an absolute masterpiece. The ending left me in tears, and it was incredible start to finish.” They continued, “How everything ties together in the end was simply perfect and beautiful. All the paths lined up [from] both a gameplay and story standpoint. [It] was poetic and one of the best games I have ever played. I can't wait to pick up Forbidden West and see what journey lies next for Aloy.”

You’re in for a treat, my friend. It only gets better. Ash17_ added, “Great game, story really does get excellent towards the end. Glad you enjoyed it. Tied as my favourite PS4 game,” while mr-photo said, “One of the best games/stories IMO.”

FunkinDonutzz said, “I played this at launch. Enjoyed it so much that I took the week off work and did nothing else until the credits rolled.” Don’t forget that a Horizon TV series is in the works at Netflix. Let’s hope it’s as good as HBO’s take on The Last of Us.
