Horizon Zero Dawn fans united over Horizon 3 setting

What’s on the horizon for Aloy?

Horizon Zero Dawn fans have been discussing where Horizon 3 should be set, and many are united over where the series should take us next.

Originally released in 2017 on the PlayStation 4 and developed by the Killzone studio, Guerrilla Games, Horizon Zero Dawn quickly became one of the best games on the console.

Set in the 31st century, our planet is overrun by what can only be described as robot dinosaurs with humanity on the brink of extinction caused by a deadly and corrupt AI known as HADES. So, it’s up to the tribal outcast Aloy and her friends to save our planet from total annihilation.

Aloy’s story was continued in the 2022 sequel, Horizon Forbidden West, as well as its expansion, Burning Shores. Without giving too much away, Aloy’s quest to save our planet is far from over, and fans of the series cannot wait to see how events play out in Horizon 3.

“Why I think Horizon 3 will be set in the Pacific Northwest,” declared Redditor Meshakhad in a lengthy post. Many fans also believe that the home of the Rocky Mountains could be the location of the next game.

Just a heads up, we will be venturing into spoilers for Horizon Forbidden West.

“Guerrilla confirmed all the tribes in Horizon Zero Dawn came from Cradle 9,” replied Alex_Masterson13. “That includes the Banuk.”

“Now, since Sylens was probably not a real Banuk, he could have come from further east, from a different tribe and Cradle. I always felt there should be one in the Appalachian Mountains,” they concluded.

Cradle 9, aka Eleuthia-9, is located in the All-Mother Mountain, which is at the heart of the Nora territory. In the real world, it would be set in the state of Colorado, where you would find the Rocky Mountains.

“I'm pegging Sylens as the last survivor of Elysium, of course, many generations removed from the Zero Dawn technicians who were its original population,” replied drplokta.

“For the sake of map size, expanding north and west makes the most sense,” suggested monkeybiziu. “I would expect a Mass Effect 3-style game where you visit the capitals of each tribe and recruit their support in fighting Nemesis.”

At the end of the day, we can only speculate at this time where we’ll go in Horizon 3, but it really wouldn't surprise me if that at some point, we travel to space, even if it’s in an expansion.
