Bloodborne remaster was once in the works, insider claims devastating us all

We were so close to a Bloodborne remaster but yet so far

Bloodborne is one of the best games in the FromSoftware library, and that’s saying something considering its impressive line-up of classic titles.

Bloodborne was released in 2015 exclusively for the PlayStation 4. Yes, this beloved FromSoftware gothic action RPG was released nearly nine years ago and fans have been calling for a PC and PlayStation 5 port for several years since.

Check out the Bloodborne: The Old Hunters trailer below!

“A hunter awakens in the plagued lands of Yharnam, where the denizens have succumbed to the beast hood, in an attempt to learn the truth and how to end the plague, unbeknownst of the true horror lurking within the city,” reads the synopsis of Bloodborne.

The rumours of Bloodborne being remastered for both PC and PlayStation 5 have been floating around for a while now, but we seem no closer to that ever happening, let alone getting Bloodborne 2. Even playing the PS4 version on PlayStation 5 it only runs at 30fps. What’s more, fans are so desperate for a sequel, that a fanmade Bloodborne 2 has been created using Unreal Engine 5 and the results have been achingly beautiful.

The lack of an official Bloodborne remaster is even more baffling when you consider that FromSoftware has remastered at least two games from its back catalogue, including Dark Souls and Dark Souls II both of which were released for the PlayStation 4 as well as other platforms. So why hasn't Bloodborne received the same treatment, especially when fans desire its release so much, we can only speculate.

If you’re one of those craving an official Bloodborne remaster, then we have some bad news. Backing claims made by popular FromSoftware modder and YouTuber Lance McDonald, video game journalist and former editor at Game Informer Imran Khan confirmed to users on the forum Resetera (thanks Reddit), that a Bloodborne remaster was in the works at some point for PC and PlayStation 5.

At this point, I feel like we might as well give up on the Bloodborne remaster but then a part of me still thinks there’s a slight chance. Either way, whether it's a remaster, remake or a simple PS5 patch, it’s surely a way for both FromSoftware and Sony Interactive Entertainment to print money, right?

Bloodborne is out now on PlayStation 4 and it is backwards compatible with PlayStation 5, at least.
