Bloodborne is making the comeback it always deserved thanks to the new film announcement, but it’s also paving the way for the PlayStation 5 remaster you’ve all been waiting for.
During this year’s CinemaCon Sony confirmed that a Bloodborne film is currently in the works, and it’ll be produced by none other than famed YouTube creator Seán “Jacksepticeye” McLoughlin.
Details on the project are few and far but Sony did confirm the film will be animated rather than live-action, which is good news as we’ll probably get a more faithful adaptation that way.
The film is exciting news as is but it gets more exciting when you realise what it means for the fabled Bloodborne Remastered…
PlayStation users have been begging Sony to remaster the game for PlayStation 5 and even FromSoftware devs have weighed in to say they’d be happy to return to Yharnam.

This new film finally makes it possible, according to Sony's track-record on film/TV tie-in media.
Radec on X made a solid point on the matter, pointing out that “every PlayStation Productions project has tied into some current game.
“Uncharted film - Legacy of Thieves Collection
Last of Us HBO - Part 1 Remake
Twisted Metal - Classic games re-released
Until Dawn film - PS5 remake
Gran Turismo film - GT7”
It’s all coming together like clockwork, and it actually somewhat explains why a remaster has taken so long. What better time to finally give fans what they want than alongside a new film?
The idea of a PlayStation 5 remaster is exciting enough, but there’s another prize on offer too, the PC port.
In recent years Sony has been moving more and more of its games to PC after they’ve been out on consoles long enough.
The latest reports say it’s actually moving away from this decision but before it shelves the idea completely it should give Bloodborne the PC treatment it deserves.
You can play Bloodborne on PC right now but it’s an unofficial port. It’s actually a noticeable improvement over the PlayStation 4 version but requires a few hoops to jump through in order to get it working.

It’s all coming up for Bloodborne fans at the moment, and hopefully the reception to the new animated film spurs Sony to finally greenlight that remaster/port if it hasn’t already. It’s a shame Bluepoint Studios isn’t around to take it onboard anymore.
