PlayStation Studio Bluepoint has emerged from the ashes after its live-service God of War title was axed last year.
However, the studio, which is best known for its remastering efforts, is back and this time it is looking for a key member of staff.
Founded back in 2006, Bluepoint has been the studio behind some of our favourite remasters such as 2020’s PlayStation 5 rerelease of Demon’s Souls as well as doing work on Santa Monica Studio’s God of War Ragnarök.
Now it seems as though the studio has turned its attention to a “third-person melee action experience”, at least according to a recent job listing.

It seems as though Bluepoint is currently searching for a senior combat designer with the job description reading as follows:
“Work alongside animation, character artists, vis dev, level design, engineers, etc to design enemy and boss-type characters and refine engaging combat systems and mechanics. Applicants are expected to be able to confidently work both independently and collaborate with all stakeholders, while bringing their experience and perspectives to elevate the team and our processes as we strive to deliver our next great title.”
Of course, the project has not been formally announced or named but it has definitely perked up the ears of Bloodborne fans.
After all, the beloved FromSoftware title is in desperate need of a remaster or at least a port and features that all-important “third-person melee action”.

However, there is no denying that this is probably wishful thinking.
“Well, we might as well get this out of the way,” one user said in response to the news of Bluepoint’s new project. “Bloodborne remake.”
Unfortunately, it is more likely that the project will be God of War related, especially with the job listing specifying candidates being capable of “key aspects of the content, including events, interactions, encounters, puzzles, and collision”.
It would also make sense that the studio already has plenty of assets regarding God of War following the cancellation of its previous project.

However, it is always good to hope and with Bluepoint’s previous work on Demon’s Souls, it is not too far-fetched that it may have turned its attention to Bloodborne.
Only time will tell.
For now, we can only celebrate that this development studio was not shut down following the cancelled God of War project, so let us hope that this is just the beginning of something very exciting.
