The chances of a Bloodborne remaster, or even a Bloodborne 2, may not entirely be dead in the water, if details from a recent earnings report are anything to go by…
Kadokawa Corporation, the majority shareholders of Dark Souls, Elden Ring, and Bloodborne developer FromSoftware, has just revealed that they have 26 games in active development, spurring rumours that at least one of said titles could finally be the Bloodborne remaster we’ve been waiting over a decade for.
This information comes via Kadokawa Corporation’s recent Q2 earnings report (via Game Watch, translated by Automaton Media), which stated that they have 20 console games and six mobile games in active development.

Now, to be clear, Kadokawa Corporation owns a few developers, most notably Tenchu developers Acquire and Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero developers Spike Chunsoft, but the fact that they have 20 console games in active development still doesn’t account for every single one of their developers (or at least, the ones that don’t exclusively work on mobile games).
That means that it’s more than likely that at least a few of these are being handled by FromSoftware. Obviously one of these is The Duskbloods, the multiplayer Soulslike that’s set to release exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2, but that still leaves room for at least one more title.
Could said title be a Bloodborne remaster, or potentially a Bloodborne sequel?
As you may have heard last year, Sony did purchase a 10% stake in Kadokawa Corporation towards the end of December. 10% is hardly enough sway to force Kadokawa, and therefore FromSoftware, into developing a Bloodborne game… but it is enough to get the ball moving.

Also, FromSoftware’s decision to produce another console exclusive title with The Duskbloods does prove that they’re still open to the idea of developing single-system games.
Basically all I’m saying is, there’s a chance. More of a chance than we’ve had for a while. Here’s hoping we hear something before the end of the year.
