Skyrim players in need of new content can now download 'Scriptures of the Dragon Cult', a free mod which adds a brand new quest.
Developed by Skyrim modder henryetha, 'Scriptures of the Dragon Cult' is a new quest which focuses on the titular Dragon Cult, an organisation that once appeared within Skyrim’s borders and has a long history with the events of the game.
Elder Scrolls lore aficionados will recognise the Dragon Cult as a faction which appears in ancient Tamriel lore, existing hundreds of years before the events of the games.
'Scriptures of the Dragon Cult' brings back Farengar and Viarmo, two characters from the original Skyrim game, in a new quest which involves helping them in their investigation into the cult.

The mod is fully voiced and lore-friendly, so it shouldn’t clash with any prior lore established by Bethesda in the past. You’ll be able to play it and feel like it doesn’t ruin any of the logic already pre-determined in the game.
The questline explores the stories of the 12 Dragon Priests, who appear in Skyrim as minibosses, but aren’t explored too heavily from a lore point of view.

'Scriptures Of The Dragon Cult' Adds A Load Of New Content To Skyrim's Backstory
Two new NPCs are added, Misha-daro and Khen-jo, who are a Khajiit scholar couple and become heavily involved with the events of the quest.
In terms of the full list of features included with the mod, aside from the new questline, we also have 97 new journal entries and 43 letters from the Merethic Era, an ancient period of time that predates Skyrim by a few centuries.
The mod also features 12 books written by Farengar, as well as 12 bardic lays with 56 variants, adding a little bit of extra oomph to the Dragon Priests’ history.
If you’re interested in checking out S'criptures of the Dragon Cult', you can download it now for the PC version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim from Nexus Mods.
To start the quest, make sure you have the Wooden Mask in your inventory, which can be found in the base game at Bromjunaar Sanctuary in Hjaalmarch.
Once you’ve got it, speak to Farengar Secret-Fire in Whiterun and choose the dialogue option, “I came across an artifact you might find interesting. [Show Wooden Mask]”. From here, you’ll be able to start the quest.
