A new report on the God of War television series in development at Amazon has detailed plans for Season 2, and it seems to be a rather messy update.
Production of the show’s first season is currently delayed at the moment due to actor Ryan Hurst suffering a severe bicep tear injury, which has resulted in his role being recast and production resuming in October.
As Amazon searches for its new lead to portray the titular God of War, a new report has detailed recast plans for two key characters who are also set to feature heavily in the series.
MP1st reports that Amazon will allegedly recast the characters of Atreus and Thrúd in God of War's second season, bringing in older actors to portray the pair as their characters get older.

Unlike the recasting of Kratos, which is purely due to the unfortunate circumstances surrounding Hurst’s injuries, this decision appears to be a creative one that has been planned from the beginning.
During last year’s casting call leaks for the first season, the Atreus character (codenamed “Joshua” in the casting call) was described as a “one-year series regular”, hinting at plans to recast from the start.
The role eventually went to actor Callum Vinson, who is set to play Atreus in the first season. Island Austin will play Thrúd (called “Ruth” in the casting call), the daughter of Thor.
However, it seems now that both will only feature in the first season of the television series, with a new casting call for Season 2 looking for teenage versions of these characters to star.

The casting call for ‘Teen Joshua’ reads as follows: “After growing up in isolation in a cabin in the woods, Joshua went on a daring and dangerous adventure alongside his father that bonded the two of them but threw everything into question. At journey’s end he came upon a revelation suggesting he may have a destiny greater than he could have imagined.
“When we find him in Season 2, Joshua is eager to learn more about the truth of who he is. He is empathetic, brave, and immensely curious about the world. But as he finds his new identity and grows into manhood, his trusting-nature leaves him vulnerable to manipulation. Must be comfortable with physical combat, especially archery.”
Meanwhile, this is what the casting call for ‘Teen Ruth’ reads: “Because of an incident that changed the course of her life, Ruth is wise beyond her years. Confident, intelligent, and sarcastic, Ruth’s tough exterior masks a childlike vulnerability that causes her to be vindictive and cruel when hurt.
“Though she has a complicated relationship with her parents, Ruth shares a special connection with her grandfather, the king, and she believes he’ll choose her to be the heir to the throne one day. Must be comfortable with physical combat.”
