Some class games in here!

We’re just about a week into March, and if you’re looking for new PC games that are a little bit different, then we’ve got you covered.

The year 2026 is already proving to be a banger of a year with a plethora of Game of the Year contenders already making their presence known, with the likes of Reanimal and Resident Evil Requiem.

However, sometimes we like to play something a little different. There's been some awesome indie games already this year, such as Cairn and Planet of Lana II.

Here's are seven games that have been buried by the big hitters you should definitely check out this month, with some awesome freebies thrown in here for good measure.

The Cats of Monte Cristo

Where's Wally? But with cats!

Ok, bear with me, because this is a bit of a weird one, but in a lot of ways, is what indie games are all about - freedom of expression, and whatnot. The Cats of Monte Cristo is basically Where’s Wally?, but with cats.

It's 12 minutes long, so why not just give it a go. It features 10 levels with 250 hidden cats, 50 collectibles, and is set against atmospheric backgrounds inspired by Alexandre Dumas's classic novel, focusing on a, "fluffy," tale of revenge.

If that's not your style, we've got lots more to go through, so stick around.

The Abbess Garden

Time to chill in the garden!

If you like cosy gardening games, then The Abbess Garden might just be your cup of tea. Set in 1643 France, plants grow through multiple seasons. Oh, and you might just uncover a secret spy plot, naturally.

Progress the story whenever you feel ready, letting it unfold linearly as you restore life to the abbey grounds. Grow and identify real plants through the seasons, uncover a spy plot, help the community, and find queer romance. With Positive reviews on Steam, this could be one to check out if you like that kind of game.

Packing Life

Time to pack up and play!

Packing Life
Aroko Game Studio

One of my favourite video games in 2021 was Unpacking, and as the name of the game suggests, it was about unpacking. Shocking, I know. However, it had a subtle yet charming story, loads of nostalgic vibes and a chill soundtrack that would have you counting sheep in no time. Well, if you want more than that, but in reverse, then you might want to check out Packing Life.

It's pretty similar, I must say. A cozy puzzle-simulation where you organize and pack charming orders with relaxing gameplay and a lighthearted, satisfying story.

The Wide Open Sky is Running out of Catfish

Take a trip to the 60s!

Despite what this random title says, The Wide Open Sky is Running out of Catfish is a photography game. It has sea creatures in the sky and sounds like it's some sort of acid trip from the 1960s. Transform clouds into sea creatures and bring abundance back to an empty sky! GROOVY!

4/7

Grime II

Get grime and dirty

No, not the electric dance music, thankfully. Grime II is the sequel to the surreal action-adventure side-scrolling action game that was released in 2021. Inspired by the metroidvania sub-genre, Grime II looks to be as challenging as it is moody, and nothing makes us happier (probably).

Launch tendrils made of hands to absorb foes and summon molds in their shape, as you explore a bizarre lived-in-world obsessed with art.

5/7

Ghost Master Resurrection

Spirits revived!

The Ghost of Master: Resurrection is a remaster of the original game that was released in 2003. This strategy game kind of reminds me of a cross between The Sims and Two Point Hospital, but with charming, yet spooky ghosts. It's a puzzle-strategy game that remakes the 2003 cult classic, tasking players with commanding ghosts to scare mortals in the town of Gravenville. It features enhanced graphics, improved AI, 11 reimagined locations, and new, fan-requested characters. The devs on the Steam page mention that AI has been used to improve the gameplay experience, but hopefully, that won’t be enough to put you off.

Greedfall 2: The Dying World

Try not to die

GreedFall 2: The Dying World is a sequel to the surprise 2019 hit and takes place three years after its events. It’s a challenging action RPG set in a dark fantasy world.

Ripped away from your island, you will travel across the war-torn, disease-ravaged Old Continent, forging alliances, and fighting to regain your freedom!

“Dive into a rich adventure, meeting many allies who will prove vital in overcoming the dangers that await you. As you progress, every choice you make influences the course of events, every alliance you forge has real consequences, and every decision can change the fate of the world,” reads its synopsis.

Hopefully, at least one of the above should help keep you busy this month. Let us know what you've been playing, or if there's any other releases we should include!
