Another step in the right direction

If you have an interest in emulation, there’s a very strong chance that you may be familiar with shadPS4.

For those who are new to the space, shadPS4 is a popular emulator that allows you to run PlayStation 4 games on PC.

You perhaps won’t be surprised to discover that it’s Bloodborne that gamers have, for quite a while now, been fixated with getting running on shadPS4.

Well, Bloodborne on PC just took a hefty step in the right direction.

ShadPS4 Has Been Updated, Improving Game Compatibility

You see, shadPS4 has launched its Version 0.15.0 update, as reported by DSOGaming, and it massively improves game compatibility and the general user experience.

You can read the full patch notes for Version 0.15.0 via the official shadPS4 site, with the update available to download now.

I’ll warn you though, the patch notes won’t mean very much at all if you’re technically minded so the bottom line is, as I said above, that compatibility has been improved.

Bloodborne’s journey to PC has been difficult. For quite a number of months now, fans of the title have been beavering away trying to get it running.

As it stands, Bloodborne is playable but it’s not without its issues.

A shadPS4 filing for the game reveals that it still suffers from both crashes and perfromance issues, but it does look as if the emulated PC version of this game was updated in the last couple of days shortly following the launch of Version 0.15.0.

It very much stands to reason that some additional progress has been made then with Bloodborne inching one step closer to running smoothly.

For those of you who are wondering about the legality of emulation, it’s important that if you attempt to get Bloodborne running on a PC, you’ll need to own a valid PS4 copy of the game.

Once you have that PS4 copy, you’re not breaking any rules by experimenting with it.

You should never, however, download pirated files in order to try and emulate something.

Of course, what we’re all itching to know is why Sony or FromSoftware has never bothered to remaster Bloodborne or port it to PC officially.

It recently came to light that Bluepoint Games reportedly pitched a Bloodborne remake ahead of its recent closure.

Unfortunately, the idea was seemingly rejected by FromSoftware rather than Sony. In fact, it’s claimed that over 10 studios have pitched a Bloodborne remake.

It’s for that reason that I personally don’t think we’ll ever see a Bloodborne remake. Not unless one lands several decades from now.

FromSoftware very much seems against revisiting this masterpiece, so we can only hope the emulated PC version continues to go from strength to strength.
