Starfield's first graphics overhaul already available, makes game look way better

Starfield modders have already overhauled the game’s graphics, making it look like the current-gen game it was supposed to be.

Starfield modders have already overhauled the game’s graphics, making it look like the current-gen game it was supposed to be.

Despite several positive reviews from critics, there’s a lot about Starfield that fans aren’t that into.

Check out our review for Starfield below

For starters, many are disappointed that galaxy exploration isn’t seamless, meaning to land on a planet you need to fast travel there and endure the loading screens. Then once there you’ll walk so far and have to turn around due to a boundary limit.

Starfield’s graphics and performance have also come under fire, with many admitting that while the game looks good, it’s far from the current-gen graphical fidelity fans would expect from such a major release. There’s also the issue of the game being locked at 30fps on consoles, a problem PC players luckily don’t have, provided they’ve got the hardware to push performance.

Luckily, the modding community is already hard at work tearing about the game and stitching it back together with their own improvements.

One such improvement is a graphical overhaul mod, that can be downloaded right now via NexusMods. Titled Starfield High Definition Texture Pack, the mod does exactly what it says on the tin and upscales several in-game textures with AI.

The game’s original textures have been upscaled by two times, meaning what once were 2K textures are now 4K. While it doesn’t necessarily sound that drastic of a change when you’re wandering the galaxy and its several picturesque planets, the textures go a long way in making you feel immersed in the environment.

It also makes the game’s civilisations, like the bustling city of New Atlantis, look much more detailed, as well as your starship.

To say the game hasn’t officially been released yet, due to it still currently being in the middle of early access, modders are off to a great start, with total mods already in the hundreds.

As the title opens up to more players this Friday, the 6th of September, you can definitely expect many more overhaul mods ready to improve our game.
