There is no denying that Fallout 3 was a positive experience for the majority of its players when it was first released back in 2008.

However, with the Bethesda title now being almost two decades old, it is safe to say that, thanks to the ever-growing technology improvements, Fallout 3 can look pretty outdated compared to today’s graphical standards.

Despite this, Fallout 3 still manages to capture the atmosphere of a nuclear war-torn setting with its muted colours and simple, yet effective world.

Luckily, we can now experience the 2008 title better than ever before thanks to a mod created by luxor8071.

Shared over on Nexus Mods, Fallout 3 HD Overhaul is, as you can probably guess, a full graphical overhaul for the third instalment in the much-loved RPG franchise.

By providing “new and improved lore friendly HD textures”, this mod aims to add resolution options ranging from 1k to 8k as well as replacing thousands of textures across the world of Fallout 3.

Titled the “most comprehensive HD overhaul ever made for Fallout 3”, this is a mod that all players should use if they play the title on PC.

As a result, it has earned itself over 1,200 endorsements and 256,000 downloads since it was created back in May of last year.

Not only that but its creator regularly updates and patches the mod so that it runs with every variation of Fallout 3.

Thanks to all of luxor8071’s work, fans are overjoyed and have shared their appreciation of the free download.

“Bro, I just wanted to stop by again to say thanks. Masterpiece of work,” one endorsement read.

Another positive comment read: ”Looks awesome. I wish there was a New Vegas version by you as well.”

So if you want to head back to Fallout 3 but want it to look like it was released just yesterday, then you can download this mod for absolutely free right now.
