The Elder Scrolls 6 be damned, this Skyrim 'expansion' is a beast

Only those brave enough should proceed

Bethesda may not always get it right, but when it does, we obsess about it for years.

Skyrim is over 13 years old, yet it still lives in our heads rent free like a new release.

It’s fair to say that the reason for this is because of the fans rather than Bethesda, though it did a fantastic job of paving the way for a thriving mod community.

One such expansion that’s come from this fandom is ‘Vigilant SE’.

Developed by NexusMods creator Vicn, this is a “dark story for the Vigilants of Stendarr”.

Do you remember the premiere of The Elder Scrolls VI's trailer in 2018?

This militant Order is devoted to their job, having been created during the Oblivion Crisis. Fighting all sorts of supernatural elements, it makes sense that this Order has a skeleton or two hanging in its closet.

Included in this fan-mad expansion are “a lot of unique armour sets, weapons, jewellery, creatures, and more”.

The depth of this mod is incredible, delivering a highly detailed adventure that you can really immerse yourselves in if the base story is getting old.

Although it was created several years ago, the most recent update for this mod happened last year.

Such is the finesse of this creation that fans see it as an unofficial “fourth DLC for Skyrim”.

“I like to think Vigilant is the fourth official DLC for Skyrim, it just fits after Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn,” remarked @dragonrykr.

User @captainitalia811 added, “My new favourite quest mod. Surpassing both The Forgotten City and The Gray Cowl of Nocturnal.”

As if that wasn’t praise enough, another fan commented, “Best quest mod I have ever played. Four chapters of absolute story, challenge, and immersion. It’s a tough quest, but you get immersed and the story carries meaning and rewards you for exploring.”

Don’t try to claim Skyrim has nothing new to offer when expansions like this exist.
