Resident Evil fans will want to check out this promising new horror alternative available now on the PC platform, Steam.
When it comes to classic survival horror games, it doesn't get much better than the likes of Capcom’s Resident Evil and Konami’s Silent Hill. Man, those original days on the PlayStation provided some of my best memories.
Exploring the Spencer Mansion in Resident Evil and venturing into the foggy town of Silent Hill for the first time is something that will stay with me for a lifetime.
Over the years, we’ve had a plethora of fantastic survival horror titles, and not just from the likes of Resident Evil and Silent Hill.

In 2025 alone, we had the fantastic Cronos: The New Dawn, Tormented Souls 2 and Karma: The Dark World, to name a few.
In 2026, the survival horror train keeps rolling with the highly anticipated arrival of Resident Evil Requiem, which launches tomorrow.
“As a horror game in its own right, Resident Evil Requiem is a very solid nine out of ten, but as a passionate fan of the series, it earns an additional bonus point thanks to the attention to detail and craft that’s gone into every pore of this game,” I said in my review. “Resident Evil Requiem is my Game of the Year so far and has earned my very first 10/10 in my three years at GAMINGbible.”
Lovecraft Horror Fans Will Love This Upcoming Game
However, there is another horror game that might be worth your attention, and that’s the Lovecraft-inspired Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss, developed by Big Bad Wolf and published by Nacon.
Check out the trailer here, it's a really fun blend with The Shape of Water and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided energy.
“A mining station in the Pacific abyss is no longer responding. As an investigator of the occult, unravel the mysteries of the deep."
"Test your wits and sanity in this thriller inspired by the master of Providence,” reads the synopsis of Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss on Steam.
After watching its trailer, Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss perhaps gives me more vibes of the aforementioned Cronos: The New Dawn and BioShock, thrown into the mix.
Either way, it looks like it has the potential to be a surprise hit of 2026.
Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss doesn't release until 16 April 2026, but you can get an early sample of the game right now by downloading its free demo via Steam.
It’s perhaps worth mentioning that while Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss is scheduled to release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S at the same time as PC, there is no console demo yet. Hopefully, that will soon change.
