Today, Stardew Valley turns 10 years old. Happy birthday Stardew Valley!
On 26 February 2016, Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone launched what would go on to become a titan of the cosy gaming genre. Stardew Valley remains fully supported to this day, with plenty of new features in the pipeline.
In celebration of the game’s anniversary though, I want to divert your attention away from the future to both the present and past.
This game is packed with tiny details. In fact, there's one secret ConcernedApe has said nobody has found yet.
In our quest to find out, we discovered six hidden secrets you may not have uncovered within Stardew Valley.
Stardew Valley’s Resident Wizard Is Hiding a Secret
Stardew Valley players likely will have encountered the game’s resident wizard who appears in several cutscenes throughout the experience.
What you may not know is that he’s actually hiding a pretty dark secret on Skull Cavern.

Within Skull Cavern, you can sometimes find plaques on the walls which are written in a strange, unclear text.
Well, naturally, fans have deciphered what this all means over the years with one such plaque reading, “Wizard sealed us in this prison until the day a hero puts us to rest.”
I did always have a bad feeling about that guy.

There’s a ‘Dark Creature’ Stalking The Map
There’s a being in Stardew Valley known as the ‘Dark Creature’ that can be spotted in Pelican Town, Cindersap Forest, the Backwoods or the Secret Woods at night.
He’s pretty large, perhaps looking akin to something like Bigfoot.
The creature can only appear after a Strange Capsule event, and there’s a very, very rare possibility that it could leave behind a large footprint.
Trust me, if this thing pops up, it’s scarier than you might think.

You Can Get An Awesome Cat Sword
Fancy getting your hands on Meowmere? That’s a very cool cat-inspired sword for the uninitiated amongst you.
Grab an Ancient Doll, and head down to a lava pool on level 100 of the mines or the lava next to the chest at the Forge on Ginger Island.

A bone serpent will rise from the pool and give you the Far Away Stone.
Take this stone and place it on the plant pedestal in the basement of the Wizard’s Tower and Meowmere is yours.

A Unique Introductory Logo
When you load-up Stardew Valley, you’ll see the logo of developer ConcernedApe.
It’s pretty widely known that clicking on the sunglasses in the logo, if they’re present, will make them disappear as the character’s eyes open in response.
What you may not know is that there’s a very slim 2% chance that you could see a green animation when clicking on the logo.
It’s not a revolutionary secret, but it’s cool that there’s something so rare tucked away for every player to potentially experience.

The Beach Creature Roams Free Too
Players visiting the beach may encounter a green creature known as the ‘Beach Creature’.
This martian-like being can surface from nearby waters resulting in quite a frightening encounter.
You can’t interact with the creature and it’ll swim away shortly after appearing.

There’s a 0.06% chance of it spawning if you’re on the beach or nearby docks, making it perhaps one of the rarest sights within Stardew Valley.
The creature does appear in Krobus’ 14 heart event if you do want to see what it looks like.

The Aliens Are Coming
Did you know there’s a 0.001% chance you could spot a UFO in Stardew Valley?
It will appear on your daily Profit Screen, if you're lucky, but there’s literally no way to tempt this one.
It’ll simply shoot across the screen in exceptionally rare circumstances.
