The Elder Scrolls gooners have uncovered a secret that’s been hidden away for nearly 30 years in this free PC game.
The Elder Scrolls series from Bethesda is one of the most popular fantasy RPGs of all time, ever since its inception in 1994 with The Elder Scrolls: Arena. Yet, it’s probably fair to say that the series began its ascent in popularity in 2002, with the third numbered entry, Morrowind.
However, especially when it concerns the very early games in the series, some of the entries may have flown under many fans' radar, which might explain why this particular secret has only just been discovered (as far as we’re aware) 28 years later.
The secret in question was discovered in The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard, which was originally released in 1998 on PC.
Specifically, it’s the Reguard Unity version where the secret was discovered, a free, open-source project that aims to port the game into the Unity Engine. The official version of the game is available on Steam.

So, what is this secret, I hear you ask? Well, it’s a smiley face in the mid-section of a groin area, that can only be described as an upskirt shot, which is all kinds of awkward to write.
“This may be one of the longest-running secrets in the history of The Elder Scrolls. We are about to reveal that this has seemingly stayed hidden for 28 years from general knowledge,” tweeted UESP.
“Thanks to the ongoing work on the Redguard Unity project, we have learned that if you were to try to look up the skirt of a female character in that game, you will find a smiley face emoji.”
To be fair to the person who discovered this smiley face, I would assume that they were honestly playing with the camera and discovered the secret by chance.
“I am incredibly amused that it took 28 years to find something like this out in the open,” replied Mothberg 500.
“By Azura,” exclaimed MAFvRichthofen.
“This went unnoticed for 28 years because only three people have ever played The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard,” claimed MyBrainIsMoldy, who may actually be making a good point.
