Amid the long and arduous wait for The Elder Scrolls VI, fans have managed to bring back a beloved Bethesda title.
Quite a number of lesser known Elder Scrolls games have been culled in recent years.
The Elder Scrolls: Legends was shut down last year, while The Elder Scrolls: Blades will cease to exist from 30 June 2026.
That former title though is already set to be brought back by fans thanks to an awesome new free PC release.
As spotted by ComicBook, reddit user AfraidVolume1927 is in the midst of turning The Elder Scrolls: Legends into a free-to-play browser game.

They began the project not long after The Elder Scrolls: Legends shutdown last year and now have an alpha version that’s available to play for free.
If you’re not familiar with The Elder Scrolls: Legends, it originally launched in 2017 and was essentially a digital, collectible card game where players could compete in turn-based matches.
It landed on both mobile and PC, although Bethesda stopped supporting the game with new content just two years after it launched.

It’s impressive, admittedly, that it wasn’t shut down until 2025.
The fan-made browser version is officially known as TESL Browser Project and, of course, as it’s just an alpha, you shouldn’t expect it to run perfectly.
However, Version 0.6 is the latest to land which introduces all Willpower Cards from the Core set as well as some improvements around “the user pendings (like selecting creature to buff, destroy creature, etc)”.
You can sample this new version via your browser, plus you can even donate to the port’s creator if you want to continue to see this project grow.
It’s already going down incredibly well with gamers.
The Elder Scrolls: Legends didn’t resonate with the masses, sure, but it did build up a strong and dedicated fanbase.
“Amazing work! Keep at it,” remarked one fan.
I wonder if any Elder Scrolls fans are contemplating whether to give The Elder Scrolls: Blades a similar new lease of life given that it has just two months left.

These small spin-offs may not be on the same playing field as The Elder Scrolls’ mainline entries, but it’s still a shame to see the franchise shrink amid a new content drought.
Hopefully, The Elder Scrolls: Legends fan remake will go from strength to strength and won’t be nuked by Bethesda.
