Cyberpunk 2077 publisher giving away gorgeous adventure game completely free

Anime girls, pixel art worlds, oh my

Lovers of survival games really don’t want to miss out on a free game from a well-known and respected publisher this month.

Cyberpunk 2077 publisher-owned website GOG is delivering the goods this Christmas with Lost Ruins, a “2D side-scrolling survival action game” set in a dark and unknown world, with the young protagonist struggling to understand why she’s there and what’s happening. Expect epic boss fights, lots of exploring, and a fantastically enjoyable experience that’s a “bit horny at times”.

Speaking of gorgeous adventures, do you want to see what was GAMINGbible's GOTY?

We doubt anyone will have an issue with the latter description, as it seems gamers, particularly PlayStation ones, are amongst some of the most passionate about “me-time” – at least according to the latest stats from quite a reliable source.

Depending on the type of player you are – completionist or the bare minimum – Lost Ruins can take between six and 25 hours to beat, according to the stats given on the CD Projekt Red GOG. This means you could potentially get a substantial experience without paying a single penny – I bet Modern Warfare 3 gamers wish they could say the same.

“A pretty solid Metroidvania[-esque] with anime girls in it,” raved one player. “I particularly liked the way elements interacted with stuff in the environment in ways that both help and kill you. The story is pretty predictable, unfortunately, so that's nothing to write home about, but the gameplay is pretty good!”

Even with the aforementioned predictability, when it’s free, does it even matter if it isn’t a perfect game? Look at Starfield, we paid a lot of money for that, yet that’s arguably been one of the most boring titles of 2023 (though Bethesda disagrees).

If you want to claim Lost Ruins for free, you are on a timer, with that timer counting down as I type this, so make sure to act sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment and needing to pay.
