The Legend of Zelda fans are loving the upcoming Switch 2 edition of Breath of the Wild for one specific reason.

Yesterday’s Switch 2 reveal brought us all sorts of info nuggets. We now have a release date, pricing details, and a lot of game announcements to get excited about.

Another thing coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 will be upgraded versions of original Switch games. For a price, you can enjoy older games with new features, higher resolutions and faster framerates.

Fans of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild have spotted a detail for them to get very excited over, and it’s a big deal.

During the part of the presentation focused on Switch 2 upgraded editions, Nintendo showed off Breath of the Wild running at 60fps.

On the original Switch, the game ran at a maximum of 30fps, with some dips to lower framerates depending on what the game was showing at that moment.

This part in the presentation showed off the Korok Forest, a mid-game area which was notorious for tanking the game’s framerate. Due to the amount of grass, trees and other props, the game would slow to below 20fps just to render everything.

However, the Switch 2 gameplay we’ve seen shows it running at a much crisper framerate. The game is expected to hit 60fps even in this location.

Considering how badly this area ran in the original version of the game, getting it to run at a much faster framerate has got Zelda fans excited.

“You know they showed that area on purpose,” one user wrote on Twitter.

“Switch 2 is looking very good right now,” another wrote.

“They really gonna get me to sink another 200 hours into this game,” a third comment wrote.

There will be other areas in Breath of the Wild that should receive the same kind of boost. Areas like Kakariko Village and Hyrule Castle also suffer from framerate drops, as does any area when it starts to rain.

So, this should be a welcome change for players who loved Breath of the Wild. It’s almost made the game feel like a completely new remaster.
