After multiple rumours, leaks and outright guesses, Nintendo has finally confirmed the release date of its Nintendo Switch 2 handheld.

The Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 edition is currently live, giving us more information surrounding the highly-anticipated successor to the Nintendo Switch.

Check out the original Nintendo Switch 2 announcement below!

We have already received news of the first game which will be coming exclusively to the Nintendo Switch 2, as well as news of a brand-new feature and a fps update.

Now we have an official launch date.

June 5, 2025!

That means that there is just over two months until users can finally get their hands on the first Nintendo console since the original Switch was launched way back in 2017.

There is no denying that the Nintendo Switch has become one of Nintendo’s most popular handhelds over recent years, especially due to its surge in popularity during the COVID-19 pandemic.

So we can safely assume that its successor will be another hit when it goes live this summer.

As we have already seen from the Nintendo Direct event, the Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to be an improvement on the original in every way.

Not only will it be bigger and more powerful, offering 120fps, but it will also offer more features with the now-magnetic Joy-Cons, the ability to join voice calls with friends, and of course, the barrage of brand-new games which will be arriving alongside it.

The Direct is still in full-swing but we can expect plenty of more titles to be announced over its one-hour runtime.

Not only can we expect the Nintendo Switch 2 to launch on 5 June, but we can also look forward to all of these new features (such as the Nintendo Switch 2 camera) going live on the same date.

So make sure you get saving!
