There are not many franchises as popular as Pokémon whether it’s the video game series, animated movies and TV series or good old card battling. Whatever the content, fans cannot get enough of catching ‘em all.
The Pokémon video game series has been going strong for nearly 30 years following the release of Pokémon Red and Green for the original Nintendo Game Boy in 1996. Yet, despite its longevity, the Pokémon series is showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon no matter its form of entertainment.

Recently, Nintendo announced the next entry in the series with Pokémon Legends Z-A which is set to be released for the Nintendo Switch in 2025 and some believe that it might even be released on the Switch 2. As for what games are out right now, the most recent releases are Pokémon Scarlet and Violet which launched in 2022.
In our review of Pokémon Scarlet, we said: “Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have finally delivered on the promise of an open-world entry, but with all the technical issues and stripped-back features, it’s hard to not feel like the Nintendo Switch held these games back.”
