Despite all odds, Hogwarts Legacy has done the unthinkable and become of one of the biggest launches on Nintendo Switch this year.

The Harry Potter spin-off game is now finally available on all platforms. After its initial launch on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5, it eventually received a port for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, before eventually making its way onto Nintendo Switch after several delays.

Fans were pleasantly surprised with its performance too, though many still believe its release on the Nintendo Switch was unnecessary, as in order for Hogwarts Legacy to run on the console, it lost its seamless open world and features more loading screens than other platforms.

Regardless, it’s done well in sales, with Hogwarts Legacy as a whole becoming the best-selling game of the year, with the Switch port reportedly being the third-biggest launch on the platform.

It’s nowhere near the steep competition of Mario Wonder and Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom, but it's impressive nonetheless, and somewhat expected given the popularity of Harry Potter in Japan where the Nintendo Switch is one of the most popular consoles behind Sony’s.

Despite all of its success though, it doesn’t change the fact Hogwarts Legacy hasn’t been nominated for a single Game Award, something fans are outraged about, with one streamer even having a tantrum about its omission whilst livestreaming.

Players have called the snub an “injustice,” believing it wholeheartedly deserves nominations despite its ties to J.K Rowling and the controversy surrounding the author.

If you’re yet to play Hogwarts Legacy and want to before the year ends, you can grab the game at a discounted price on all of its platforms thanks to the Black Friday deals.

Hogwarts Legacy is available on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC and now Nintendo Switch.
