The next official Stardew Valley update has been teased by the game’s developer, who’s said it’s “larger” than originally planned.

Who’d have thought we’d still be getting new Stardew Valley content in 2024? Often described as one of the best games ever made, the delightful farm life simulator is a must-play for gamers on all platforms and its next big update is planned to release very soon.

Major updates for the game have slowed down since its initial release, though that hasn’t stopped modders from creating their own game expansions you can download and play right now. The last few official updates from the game, developed by ConcernedApe, have been more akin to quality of life updates and small content drops.

A new update adding some new items and events to take part in was teased for a January release, though the developer has since addressed a slight delay in its release date due to the project taking longer than planned.

Speaking about the update on Twitter, ConcernedApe said: “1.6 ended up being a little larger in scope than originally planned. I'm done adding major new content to it now, though, and it's in a bug-fixing and polishing phase until it's ready for release. Thx for your patience. It'll be fun to see everyone play it!”

A rough release window wasn’t shared unfortunately but if the update is just in its bug fixing phase it’d be a safe bet to say it’ll drop sometime in February, or perhaps early March.

Whether this is one of the last updates for Stardew Valley is another question, but considering the game is still popular on PC, Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo platforms, it’s likely the game still has a few more updates ahead of it before ConcernedApe shelves it entirely.

Regardless, the game is still a must-play in its current state, and the perfect choice for anyone looking for a relaxed gaming experience or something they can play with friends.
