The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Stardew Valley aren’t two games that you’d typically pair together and yet this game somehow makes it work.
It’s called World Of Anterra and it’s currently playable on Steam, bringing you an open-world full of mysteries and dangers.
The game’s Steam description reads: “A modern pixel art RPG. World of Anterra is an epic non-linear, open-world role playing adventure set in a diverse and living handcrafted world.”
Visually it does look a lot like Stardew Valley. It’s top-down, primarily uses pixel-art and altogether looks adorable. As a fan of retro titles, especially Nintendo ones, the SNES aesthetic looks great.

Gameplay-wise it’s also quite similar but has more in common with Skyrim given the amount of threats you’ll be facing in its open-world. That said the graphics also give it a kind of old-school Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest vibe.
That doesn’t mean you won’t also have more chilled-out experiences, as exploring the in-game woodland and villages looks quite pleasant, and with any luck there’ll be the true indication of a solid RPG game, a fishing minigame. You can’t have an RPG nowadays without an option to fish or forage.
It looks like a quality title at first glance, and the screenshots and trailer have definitely got me interested, especially if you can play it on Steam Deck for portable appeal.
Unfortunately there’s no word on when the game will be out as it’s one of those “coming soon” listings.

That said there’s probably a good chance of it launching sometime this year so it’s worth adding to your wishlist if you’re interested in it. Hopefully there’s a demo to go along with it too.
World Of Anterra looks like it’s coming along quite nicely, and it’s definitely one to keep an eye on.
