Steam Free Download is Epic Mix of Skyrim, Stardew Valley

Oh no, every reviewer has a minimum of about 300 hours played

This Steam RPG is so good that the reviewers are literally warning people not to play it, because it will apparently consume your entire life.

Hey, do you like the scenic, wintery vibes of Skyrim? Do you enjoy Stardew Valley’s cosy, farming-based mechanics? Do you wish you had an excuse to never talk to your family or loved ones ever again?

Well then, do I have just the game for you: Elin, the open-world RPG from developer and publisher Lafrontier.

I’ll be honest with you, I’ve heard a lot about this one since it dropped back in 2024, and everything has been almost unanimously positive.

That's probably why Elin is currently sitting at a "Very Positive" rating on Steam, with over 6,290 reviews (93% of which are positive).

Here’s what some of the reviewers on Steam have to say about the overall experience.

“I've put off writing this review for ages because I didn't know how to accurately describe how much I love this game. One of the best games I've ever played - and still in early access”, writes Steam reviewer Kiria.

“A truly open world RPG with deep systems that you can choose to engage with as many or as few as you want... The game is an absolute gem and I hope more people get to experience all of the soul it has to offer.”

“This is officially part of my "cognito hazard" folder of games I cannot play without ruining my life obsessing over, along with Dwarf Fortress, Factorio, Amazing Cultivation Simulator”, commented Steam user Carlos Danger.

“Do not buy this game. You have people in your life that care for you, and you WILL be ignoring them to dump 80 hours into watering seeds at the bottom of Vernis Mine until your farming levels up.”

Yeah, that last review is exactly the reason why I haven’t given this one a go yet.

This game looks phenomenal, and it looks right up my street but… god, I have so much stuff to play. I’m not sure I can justify getting hooked on a game like this at the moment.

But, it does have a free demo. I suppose I could just give it a quick go, right? Then I can just wishlist it, and wait until my backlog is a little clearer… I definitely won’t just end up buying the full game and sinking hundreds of hours into it immediately, surely.
