I’ve got to admit, I’m shocked that we don’t yet know what’s next for the Hogwarts Legacy franchise beyond the release of the Nintendo Switch version. Given the immense commercial success of the game, you’d expect that we’d receive news of a DLC or sequel soon.

It certainly feels inevitable. With the focus still on the Nintendo Switch release in November, I suppose December’s The Game Awards could prove a useful event to announce what’s next. Then again, early September also marks the annual ‘Back To Hogwarts’ event which typically features several Potter related announcements. Many players previously hailed Hogwarts as their favourite video game location ever, but agreed the wider game was in need of improvement - namely with the addition of a companion system. Fans would also love to be able to travel to famous wizarding locations like Diagon Alley. Others are now saying that the game should take inspiration from Red Dead Redemption 2 - and devs should take note.

Reddit user bogeyj took to the site to suggest that a Hogwarts Legacy sequel should implement Red Dead Redemption 2’s morality system. They said, “IMO, a morality system [should be included]. Your choices actually mattering to help shape the story would make such a huge difference in a sequel. I hope the next Hogwarts game moves over to Unreal 5 as well (leave the stutter-fest that is Unreal 4 behind).”

Plenty of fellow players agreed and put forward their own suggestions. “More activities and quests INSIDE Hogwarts. In this game I feel like I spent 10% of the time in the castle and 90% outside,” said MetalRoman. “An actual expansive network of students to fight in the duelling club,” requested claytalian.

Ryucavelier wrote, “House points system. A morality system. Being able to greet and antagonise students, faculty and townspeople ala Bully and Red Dead Redemption II,” offering similar suggestions. Hogwarts Legacy definitely laid some solid groundwork, so hopefully devs listen to fans’ requests.
