Hogwarts Legacy players want a companion system

Hogwarts Legacy players feel that the lack of a companion system is "a crying shame", and are hoping for it to be added in the future.

Exploring the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry has proven to be a far more lonely experience than many Hogwarts Legacy players expected, and they’re really hoping for some changes to be implemented in the future.

Hogwarts Legacy’s release has been shrouded in controversy - many are boycotting it due to its association with J.K. Rowling who has been heavily criticised for making harmful comments about the trans community. She will profit from the title’s sales despite not being directly involved with its development.

Despite the fact that it’s already the most successful Harry Potter game of all time, players still have complaints. Many have been finding the slow menus frustrating, while others have been left disappointed about the game's lack of a companion system. It turns out that you can only explore Hogwarts with other characters during certain missions - many thought that there'd be the option to do so freely, and the fact that there isn't is a huge missed opportunity.

“It’s just so frustrating that the teases are still very much in the game, but the actual system isn’t! It’s clear this was planned as a feature and abandoned at some point. I just heard (on my second run) Natty saying if I ever wanted to go exploring I should ask her to come and it’s dangerous alone etc. I didn’t notice it my first playthrough, I’m sure Seb likely said something similar when I went to Hogsmeade with him last time,” Reddit user Realmadridirl wrote. “It’s a crying shame that it didn’t make the final game. And all I keep wondering is if it will be re-implemented in a post-launch update at some point. It’s not unheard of for single-player games to get some upgrades these days. I pray this is one of them.”

Others agreed: “I’ve been wanting a companion option so bad the last few days! My character keeps saying something to the effect of 'This is dangerous. I’m not with my friends', and it’s just making me want it more. I need help with all those poachers!” replied redstarmetalarm. “[My] character even goes ‘nobody to share my victory with’ and other phrases after battles and such, it’s a shame. Lemme run around with Natty dammit!” added jedii-.

Some have also been hoping for Quidditch to be added at some point as DLC, so perhaps this could be too? Take notes, devs.
