The teasing for Fallout 5 is set to replace that of GTA VI. In truth, we’ve always known it’ll be a long time before we ever see a sequel to Fallout 4, especially as The Elder Scrolls VI is Bethesda’s next big title, but that doesn’t make waiting any less vexing.

That vexation is somewhat eased, though, now that we’ve learnt that Bethesda, while hardly far along in development for Fallout 5, does have numerous storylines in the work already. Todd Howard, in a recent interview with Den of Geek, revealed that certain plot lines had to be tweaked in Amazon’s rendition due to them being too similar to the plots for the next game.

Howard said, “There were some things where I said, ‘Don’t do this because we are going to do that in Fallout 5’.” Todd wasn’t the only one who revealed details about the next instalment; Graham Wagner, one of the showrunners for the TV series, simply said that they “all know about Fallout 5”, but they’re “not telling anyone”.

Technically, we all know about it, if you want to split hairs.

During the course of these discussions about Fallout’s future, Howard also took the time to put claims to bed that Amazon’s show was replacing plans for a new game. “It wasn’t the translation of an existing story,” he explained. “It was, what would the next thing be? It just happens to be a TV show.”

Whether you’re excited for the upcoming show or not (you should be excited, but we’re trying not to judge), we’re being spoilt with freebies to celebrate its coming; the most recent of which is gorgeous, free download. This came after Xbox's surprise announcement that got Fallout fans all a flutter, and understandably so.

The Fallout machine is powering ahead, and while we haven’t got solid details about the next game instalment, we do know that it’s in development, even if only in those early planning stages. Bare bones are there, which is something of a relief.
