If rumours are to be believed, Fallout 5 may still be in its pre-production stage.
What that essentially means is that it’s not even in full development yet and therefore is many years away from launch.
If you’re craving a new post-apocalyptic adventure though, there’s something in the meantime that I think could scratch the itch.
The Xbox exclusive S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is set to land on PlayStation 5 later this year, with a PS5 Pro version also in the works.

Developed by GSC Game World, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl released to mixed reviews, which is a great shame considering what the Ukrainian studio has been through in recent years.
I had the opportunity to speak to several devs at last year’s Gamescom, and I was incredibly moved by their strength and defiance, as well as their passion for this title.
It’s clear that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl at its heart is a great game, but it did launch with a few too many bugs, truth be told.
Many of those have been ironed out though now, so the title’s upcoming PS5 launch may be the beginning of its redemption path.

The PlayStation 5 version of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is set to receive full DualSense support for “deeper player immersion”.
Of course, the PS5 Pro version will be even more visually dazzling than the base game.
Originally, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl was only set to be an Xbox exclusive for three months, but I think devs did the right thing spending the best part of 12 months fixing the base game’s issues instead of rushing into a port.
As for when you can expect to get your hands on this one, “late 2025” is all that’s been confirmed for now.

I’d say we’re looking at October onwards but we won’t know for sure until that official release date is pinned down.
If that information is unveiled, we’ll be sure to bring it to you.
