Bethesda is not known for its speed when it comes to game development although admittedly, that does result in a better end product.
Even still, being a fan of The Elder Scrolls or Fallout can be extremely arduous.
The former fanbase has been waiting 15 years for a new mainline entry, while the latter is up to 11 years.
It’s a relief then, to some at least, that Bethesda boasts one of the most active and creative modding communities out there.

And it’s with that in mind that you may want to fill the wait for Fallout 5 by sampling Fallout: Chicago, an impressive mod offering.
Fallout: Chicago Is a DLC-Sized Fan Expansion For New Vegas
A demo for Fallout: Chicago has surfaced on NexusMods from the aptly titled Fallout: Chicago Team with a full version of the project still in development.
The project acts as a DLC sized expansion for Fallout: New Vegas so whilst it perhaps goes without saying, you’ll need a copy of New Vegas on PC in order to get involved.
According to the mod’s description, players will “set out to solve pre war mysteries, post war politics between The Union Mob and Midwest Brotherhood along with other factions' dilemmas”.

“Chicago is dangerous and fraught with betrayal. Do you have what it takes to make it out on your mission, hell this was supposed to be a side job after all?”
Don’t be put off by the word demo as this offering is already pretty expansive, granting players access to Act 1 of this DLC story.
You’ll also be able to enjoy three side quests.
There’s a new region to explore, two new player homes, four new factions, new enemies, one companion option, hirable caravans, “random encounters [and] battles”, new vendors, new weapons, new armours, plus “drug dealing” … if that’s your thing.
There’s plenty more on the way with the Fallout: Chicago Team planning on adding two more acts to the story.
It’s also hoped that the team will be able to introduce more explorable interiors, more companions, quests, and businesses, bounty hunting, various upgrades, as well as voices for key NPCs.
You can view a trailer for the project’s demo below which looks very accomplished.
As the mod is fairly new, there are some teething issues with modders seeking to iron out any bugs raised by the community.
Of course, this is just an unfinished precursor to a larger whole but even still, the consensus does appear to be that players are impressed.
“Really cool mod,” remarked one player, while another added, “Peak.”
Fallout: Chicago’s demo is free to download and enjoy now.
