Fallout 3 players either playing the game for the first or hundredth time may have missed this stash of goodies hidden by the game’s opening.

While I’m sure many of you are playing Fallout: London now that it’s finally out, those who haven’t got a PC or Steam Deck will probably be playing either Fallout: New Vegas or Fallout 3 to get their post-apocalyptic survival fix.

Check out the stunning, fan-made, Fallout: London trailer below

If you’re in the latter camp below is a secret that you might have missed when you first started playing, and it can net you some sweet goodies very early into the game.

After a brief narrative tutorial in one of the world’s vaults the player is thrown out into the wastelands with the task of rescuing their father, played by Qui-Gon Jinn from Star Wars, Liam Neeson.

One of the closest areas you’ll be able to explore is the town of Megaton, the settlement that has a nuclear warhead slap bang in the middle of it.

As a convenient video on YouTube will show you, by surveying the area near Megaton you’ll find a rock placement with several small trees surrounding it.

While nothing looks out of the ordinary at first, closer inspection of the rock itself will reveal a secret that I’m sure many players won’t know about.

The rock is actually named Hollowed-Out Rock, and serves as a secret stash of goodies to get new players started on the post-apocalyptic adventure.

Inside you’ll find some ammo, a sniper rifle, a stealth boy, stimpaks and a letter, which provides a bit of backstory as to who hollowed-out the stash and why.

If you’re new to the game it’s well-worth stopping by this little secret and grabbing what’s inside, especially the sniper rifle which is always a powerful tool in a Fallout game.
