One of the writers for Assassin’s Creed: Codename Red, has updated their LinkedIn profile with new artwork from the game, and fans are hoping it means a reveal is on the way.

Since the release of Assassin’s Creed Mirage, fans have been ecstatic that the series is leaning back into its roots of stealth and tactical gameplay. That being said, Ubisoft has made it clear that RPG games, like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, are still on the table, with the next, and possibly last, one being the mysterious Assassin’s Creed: Codename Red.

While we currently know very little about the game, we do know that it’s set in Feudal Japan, will feature an open world again, and take inspiration from Japanese shinobi fantasies, aka ninjas.

The game is reportedly due for release sometime in 2024, though LinkedIn activity from one of the game’s writers suggests a gameplay reveal, or a specific release date, could announced later this year.

This was shared by a Reddit user called Cygus_Lorman, in a post titled: “Ubisoft Senior Writer's LinkedIn profile has Assassin's Creed: Codename Red art.”

The artwork depicts what appears to be the game’s main character, a currently unnamed protagonist, wielding a sword with a Japanese pagoda in the background.

Fans are taking the artwork as a sign that Ubisoft is gearing up for a big reveal, possibly sometime in December when this year’s Game Awards roll around.

“Really hope we get a look at this at The Game Awards.”

“Hmmmm yall think a game awards trailer is too early?”

“Really looking forward to this game! I know reddit hates the AC games (or Ubi games in general), but I've always enjoyed them for what they were … my excitement for this game has doubled since I get to explore Japan in a brand new game.”

While it might be wishful thinking to get a gameplay reveal later this year, it’s not entirely out of the question, and if not we might at least get some new details on the game’s story, world and characters.

Assassin’s Creed: Codename Red is expected to be released sometime next year.
