Assassin's Creed Red release date appears online, is way sooner than we expected

Can't come soon enough

It appears as if a firm time slot is in place for the heavily anticipated Assassin's Creed Red, an iteration in the franchise that finally takes the assassin's to Japan.

Admittedly it's a large slot as Arisa Lagunzad, who works in brand management for Ubisoft noted on LinkedIn, Codename Red will be the "biggest blockbuster for 2024." A whole year, but at least we know it's coming soon. Ish.

Assassin's Creed Red will finally see shinobi and ninjas in Japan.

Ever since the original Assassin's Creed dropped in 2007, fans have been clamouring for an installment set in feudal Japan. After all, it's a time and place that spawned proper stealthy action. Plus Japan is a beautiful country and Ubisoft have always done well with recreating certain eras and locations.

Ubisoft haven't released a great deal of information on this game as yet, but if we are to see it release in 2024, an in-depth trailer will hopefully arrive soon and we can see more of this dual protagonist stealth entry in the series. All we really know, so far, is that players will control a shinobi and a ninja as they take done members of a shadowy organisation. Which is pretty much par for the course.

Lagunzad continued on LinkedIn writing "Japan was the most requested history and culture from AC fans" and "We are seeking a sponsoring partner for this title Assassin's Creed Codename RED for next year." It seems Arisa was looking for partners in multi-media looking to capitalise on "podcasts and manga series.'"

Assassin's Creed is currently riding a wave of success after the release of Assassin's Creed Mirage, which saw a more scaled-back game with a much smaller map and more concise story being told. Mirage takes players to 9th century Baghdad and has been lauded for its depictions of the time and culture of the era.
