breaking news

We really are in the remake and remaster era right now, with many of the most beloved games from older generations getting the treatment to bring them up to 2025 standards.
Bethesda did a great job breathing new life into Oblivion, with remakes or remasters rumoured to be on the way for both Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas (though take those with a pinch of salt right now).
As such, attention has turned to which other beloved games from our childhoods' might get, at the very least, a fresh new look, and one of the most highly requested may finally be breaking cover.
As first reported by Insider Gaming, it seems like arguably the most beloved Assassin's Creed game in history is next up to bat, and the release window has just leaked, seemingly confirming that we don't have long to wait at all.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag Remake Releasing by 31 March, 2026
The remake of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is set to release on or before 31 March, 2026, which will likely be a lot sooner than many expected.
The first clues about the title emerged when an "unannounced game" appeared as part of Ubisoft's earnings call, which was set to be released before the end of the fiscal year (which ends on 31 March).
That game is seemingly set to be this Black Flag remake, though details of exactly what has been changed for this new release remain to be seen.
The fourth game in the beloved series is seen by many to be one of the best Ubisoft has ever produced, alongside the Ezio trilogy, with the departure to a piratical theme proving to be a huge hit with fans.
There have been plenty of rumours about what the remake might look like, including reports from a leaker that this latest version is set to be much more "RPG-heavy", with additional changes to the gameplay to facilitate that.
If that is the direction the developer has decided to go in, it will likely prove very controversial with fans, who were split pretty evenly when the series moved to an RPG format with AC Origins.
The cool thing about all of these remakes is that it gives us something nostalgic to do whilst we wait for the big new titles to arrive.
Given we've been waiting 14 years for a new Elder Scrolls release and 12 since GTA V, it's safe to say we've got plenty of time to fill.
