Elder Scrolls Oblivion: Remastered gets atmospheric overhaul

Finally, I can see where I'm actually going

A brand new mod for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is bringing something to the game that has been lacking since it launched… good lighting.

Thank you in advance to Dark Side of Gaming's John Papadopoulos for their original article!

Alright I’m slightly joking of course, but I don’t think I’m the only one that immediately noticed the difference between the lighting effects in Bethesda’s original version of Oblivion and the remastered version. It’s not bad in the new version, it’s just different.

The main offender in question is the Imperial City though, as the changes made to the lighting effects has made the entire area kinda awkward to walk around at night.

I know that map like the back of my hand, and yet I keep bumping into stuff when my brightness isn’t turned up.

Well today’s is looking to change all that, and it’s certainly an upgrade.

Rabbit's Real Lights Imperial City from Nexus Mod author RabbitDoesStuff adds a whole bunch of new lighting sources to the Imperial City– and I do mean “a whole bunch”.

As RabbitDoesStuff explains on the mod page, Rabbit's Real Lights Imperial City adds “over 500+ lights and objects to enhance a proper lighting design” and improves “visibility at night” by “adding a more realistic and welcoming ambient to the imperial city.”

Honestly, regardless of if you actually need the mod to see, it just looks kinda cool.

I don’t know why, but the purple atmosphere just really works for the Imperial City. Adds an oddly regal vibe to it.

Seems they’re not quite done with just the Imperial City however, as RabbitDoesStuff has stated that they’ll be developing similar mods for the other big cities in the game.

I hope the next mods are purple, too. In fact, I wanna make the whole game purple. Ooh, I hope they release a mod to turn all my spells purple too.
