The Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer has finally arrived, and it’s given us our first big look at what’s next in store for our friendly neighbourhood superhero.
The last time we saw the MCU’s Spider-Man on our screen was 2021’s Spider-Man: No Man Homecoming. Five years on, and there hasn’t been much sign of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man cropping up in other projects.
Nonetheless, Holland will be reprising the role later this year in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Set to release on 31 July, Sony Pictures has now released a trailer giving us our first look at the film.
We’ll embed the trailer for you to look at below, and we’ve also picked out some details from the trailer that we feel are worth talking about.
Michael Mando Appears As Scorpion
Appearing briefly in Spider-Man: Homecoming, Michael Mando's Mac Gargan was teased as a greater villain for Holland's Spider-Man further down the line. While he was a no-go in Far From Home or No Way Home, Mando makes a brief appearance as the character in the Brand New Day trailer.
Advert
It's unclear how big of a role he's going to play in this film, and considering the huge plethora of actors and characters from the Spider-Man canon set to appear in the film, it's entirely possible he'll only play a small role in the wider story.

Man-Spider Confirmed?
The trailer treats us to a few new abilities at Spider-Man's disposal. He's seen cocooning himself in a web, and apparently has organic web shooters now. A big focus on the trailer also appears to be on Parker's apparent DNA mutation, which could be a possible hint at Man-Spider incoming.
For those who don't know, Man-Spider is a mutated form of Spider-Man, described as Peter Parker's "final form". This version of the character includes him growing extra arms and legs, before mutating further with extra abilities. It sounds horrifying to depict in live-action, so we'll wait and see how this plays out.

The Hand Makes An Appearance
In the comics, The Hand are an organisation of mystical ninjas who are involved in organised crime. The trailer for Brand New Day shows off the live-action version of The Hand facing off against Spider-Man, who were also last seen being defeated in Netflix's The Defenders series.
Their return could hint at a greater inclusion of Daredevil and Jessica Jones possibly making cameo appearances in the upcoming film. We haven't seen Charlie Cox or Krysten Ritter in the cast list for the film, but given their appearance in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 later this month, the show may include some clues as to their whereabouts when the film takes place.

A Huge Clue To Sadie Sink's Role
We know that Sadie Sink is set to appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, but information on her character is still under wraps. Rumours have suggested she could be playing Jean Grey from the X-Men, a theory that would have been shrugged away as hogwash in the past.
However, her very brief appearance in the trailer shows her from behind, sporting a long coat and appears to be moving in a way that suggests she's controlling people's minds. I think that gives us a very strong hint as to who she could be playing, and it might be the most exciting detail from the trailer.
