Marvel's Spider-Man 2 drops free Brand New Day suit alongside surprise bonus

Nearly three years after its original release, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 gets free DLC ahead of Brand New Day’s cinema release this week.
Developed by Insomniac Games, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 first launched on the PlayStation 5 in October 2023 before releasing on PC the following year. It’s the sequel to the critically acclaimed 2018 release on PS4 that went on to be one of the best entries in what was a stellar year for the video game industry.
Much like 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man as well as the 2020 remaster, the 2023 sequel has been supported with a plethora of free outfit DLC from our friendly neighbourhood hero and Miles Morales.

Now, just in time for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, you can claim a free Spidey outfit inspired by that very movie. However, that is not all, because there’s a second outfit inspired by the new fighting game also out this week on PC and PlayStation 5, Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls.

What’s more, a new Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has also gone live, which adds Enhanced PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution) support on the PlayStation 5 Pro, as well as Power Saver mode for all PlayStation 5 consoles. Both suits will be added to the game courtesy of update v1.005.000.

Enhanced PSSR, when enabled on the PlayStation 5 Pro, not only gives the resolution a boost by upscaling it, while maintaining higher framerates. So it’s a compromise that isn't too taxing on the console's power usage.
As for Power Saver Mode, it reduces the console's power consumption to be more economically friendly, but that will be at the expense of potentially lowering the framerate or graphical performance. However, the impact can vary depending on the game and what adjustments the developer has made. It’s also a little friendlier on your electricity bill.
“This is an amazing fantasy come to life and realised like never before. Insomniac Games has crafted yet another heartfelt Spider-Man story bursting with twists, turns, and show-stopping spectacle,” we said in our review.
“While I wish it had taken a few more risks in changing up its open-world formula, it’s tricky to remember those criticisms when I’m diving from the top of the Empire State Building and firing out a web line at the last second as I swing away in search of ass to kick.”
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is available on PC and PlayStation 5. As for what’s next for Insomniac Games, we have Marvel’s Wolverine releasing in September 2026.
