Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has received an impressive new multiplayer mod on PC, allowing fans to team up with as many as 15 other players to fight crime across New York City.
The unofficial addition arrives nearly three years after Insomniac Games' plans for a multiplayer Spider-Man title were reportedly cancelled, leaving fans without an official way to experience the superhero series alongside friends.
That scrapped project, Spider-Man: The Great Web, would have featured several playable Spider-heroes, including Miles Morales and Spider-Gwen, battling the Sinister Six together — as noted by IGN at the time. Although it never saw the light of day, a group of dedicated modders have now brought a similar concept to life.
Spider-Man 2 co-op mod lets 16 players explore New York together
Available to download through Nexus Mods, PC Brazil Multiplayer is a creation by BiladeiroSupreme, Pcniado, JimmyTheG and Falcon, introducing cooperative gameplay to the PC version of Marvel's Spider-Man 2.
Despite being primarily designed for just two players, the mod supports up to 16 people in one session with the features you'd be hoping for: including free-roaming, crime-fighting, and certain missions, and side quests.

However, the developers have warned that this is still a very early version, with most story missions currently impossible to finish. Crashes, bugs, and incomplete networking features are also well-expected until further updates arrive.

Early impressions seem very positive
Being an unstable early build aside, footage of the modification circulating on X (formerly Twitter) via Synth Potato has already attracted considerable excitement, particularly from those who remember Insomniac's abandoning of The Great Web.
A very enthusiastic fan reacted: "We need this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Others were particularly taken with how chaotically fun fighting looks in a Spider-Man game when more than one real-world player is involved in a fight at the same time.
After watching an encounter with Peter Parker Spider-Man brawling alongside Spider-Noir against a gang of Hunters, one wrote: "Bruh this combat is crazy as f**k. Dawg, that throw into the wall is wild."
Meanwhile, a different user questioned whether the combat enhancements came from the same mod or another addition entirely. The creators haven't confirmed compatibility with other modifications, so those particular animations aren't necessarily included.
Not everyone was convinced the mod would remain available, however.
Another expressed concern implying there’ll almost be an immediate action for taking the mod down, saying: "Can't wait for [the] 'Sony DMCA’ tweet in a few weeks."
At the time of writing, there’s currently no indication of such action.
The developers are continuing work on the project, with further updates being shared through their Discord server, the link for which is also on the mod’s Nexus Mods page.
